Invented behind the bar, not in a lab.
The Rinz did not start in a laboratory, but in a busy Amsterdam cafe. Two years, every single day, in the toughest test environment there is.
Self-developed · Self-funded · Patented · Own moulds
Conceived by two hospitality men
Tom Clemens has run hospitality venues in Amsterdam for years. At cafe Berkhout he ran into the same thing every day: the toilet brush. Ugly, unhygienic, always in view.
Together with Jan Willem he came up with an answer. Not on paper, but in practice: a pilot unit has been running for over 1.5 years in Cafe Berkhout on the Stadhouderskade in Amsterdam, without any drop in performance. What works in a cafe full of guests, works anywhere.
The last ugly spot in the bathroom
Almost every home has 1, almost nobody likes it. And the problem is not just how it looks.
Bacteria hotspot
An ordinary brush becomes a breeding ground for bacteria within 3 to 6 months. Moisture stays behind in the holder.
Water only
66 percent of people rinse the brush with water only. That does not make it clean.
Always in view
On the floor, next to the toilet, in the way. Exactly the detail that spoils a beautiful bathroom.
It cleans itself. Really.
Take The Rinz out of the holder and it beeps. Put it back and it rinses itself clean for 12 seconds under water pressure, then dries in the holder. 1.9 litres each time.
Behind it sits a patented jet-spray chamber and swirl technology, hydrophobic materials and an antimicrobial coating. According to an ongoing, independent study it is 60 percent more hygienic than any other brush.
- Patented technology
- Magnetic wall mount
- Hydrophobic and antimicrobial
- IP67, home and professional
Self-developed. Self-funded.
No investor setting the course, no far-away factory that dreamt it up. Tom and Jan Willem developed The Rinz themselves and paid for the development and the moulds out of their own pocket.
The first batch of 300 is built, the second is already in production: The Rinz is growing from startup to scale-up. A genuine Dutch invention.
Built with Dutch partners: injection moulding at Technic Plastique in Nederweert, electronics by R&R Electronics. Together they run the bill of materials and assembly, batch after batch.
Not a prototype. A product.
Where many design products get stuck in a render, The Rinz has run daily in hospitality for 2 years. One of the toughest use environments there is.
Design bathroom specialists have since added it to their range. What proves itself with hundreds of guests a day, fits effortlessly at home.
See The Rinz in action
Buy once, do not throw away ten times
The Rinz is made from recycled materials, without microplastics, with replaceable heads. So 1 unit replaces 6 to 10 disposable brushes.
Less plastic, less waste, less clutter. Better for your bathroom and for what lies beyond it.
From brush to water management
The Rinz is a connected water point in every toilet. The smart version, announced for 2026, shows how much water residents or guests use per day, flushes automatically when standing water risks legionella, and monitors multiple rooms from one dashboard.
You cannot save water you cannot see. So it starts with data: valuable for hotels and offices first, and later for homes. Clean water is becoming scarcer and costlier to produce.
- Insight into water use
- Automatic anti-legionella flush
- Multiple rooms, one dashboard
A patented invention
Registered and granted by the Netherlands Patent Office (RVO).
